Enterococcus cecorum is now one of the most costly health issues for broiler breeders in Canada and the United States. Without a simple and reliable solution to prevent or treat it, its impact can quickly affect your performance, profits and your desire to continue raising flocks.
There is no magic bullet for this problem. Rather, the goal is to understand all of the risk factors identified through research and field experience, then discuss practical approaches to reducing the impact of each of these factors in your facilities. This presentation is the result of many discussions with colleagues, veterinarians and producers who have shared their successes and failures.
Benoit Lanthier obtained his PhD in veterinary medicine in 2012 and his master’s degree in veterinary science in 2015 from Université de Montréal. He has been a Diplomate with the American College of Poultry Veterinarian (ACPV) since 2021.
From 2012 to 2016, he was the veterinarian in charge of the breeder, commercial layer and broiler health programs at La Coop fédérée (now Sollio Agriculture). From 2016 to 2018, he worked as a consulting veterinarian with Quebec-based clients raising breeders, broilers, turkeys and ducks. During the same period, he also collaborated with Jefo Nutrition’s technical team in the Latin American and Asian markets. In 2018, he joined the Cobb-Vantress technical service team to provide support to clients across Canada.
